Family TV

Student Instructions

For this activity, you and your small group members will pretend that you are a members of a family. You are sitting on a couch, trying to decide what kind of TV program to watch.  As a member of the family, you need to agree or disagree with the other family members, and give your opinion about your TV program preference.

  1. Go to the VoiceThread link: https://voicethread.com/share/2112572/
  2. Click "sign in or register” when prompted.
  3. If you don’t already have an account, register with your first and last name, email address and password, then click "register" (you can upgrade your account to a K-12 Educator account later).
  4. You will be prompted to add a picture to represent you (an avatar). It can be a photo of yourself or a graphic that represents you.
(Privacy tip: Discourage students from using their own pictures as avatars; tell them to choose an image instead.)
  5. Scroll to your group’s page (use the arrows at bottom left and right).
  6. The first person in your small group to go into VoiceThread can choose the family member they want to be and start the family discussion:
  7. Listen to the previous comment(s) to learn what other family members said.
  8. Repeat Step 7 until the last person in your group (the last family member) comes in to listen and record their comment. This last person makes the final decision about the TV program.

Note: The last comment from your group member is due on Thursday. The earlier you leave your comment in this Voicethread, the easier it will be for your whole group to complete the assignment on time!   smile
